Posted date: 23/June/2010

Two portraits of Dr K.S.Ashwath in the ‘Itching Process’ of art form on a black stone (it is called as telephone black stone precisely) 30x30 inch from ‘Chitra Shashana’ expert Lakshminarayana Acharya of Kambla in Kasargod has reached the office of Kanteerava studios on Monday morning. It will be placed on two sides of Dr KS Ashwath Park in Kanteervas studios just opposite to the administrative block of the studio.

Girish Mattannavar ever since occupying the chair of Chairman of Kanteerava studios is doing what he is saying with not much consumption of time. Setting up a park in the name of late Dr.KS Ashwath is another promise he made a few months ago is getting a new shape now.

The two 30 kilograms Dr KS Ashwath photo ‘Chitra Shasana’ is the brilliant work of expert Lakshminarayana who took two weeks to prepare and he is in this art form since six years. Each cost Rs.7000. The two has different photographs of Dr KS Ashwath.

A native of Hubli as of now Lakshminarayana Acharya has done similar work in various places. One of his popular works is in ‘Itching Process’ is at the Kittur Rani Chennamma square in Kittur. He has recreated a battle ground of Chennamma. It is at this place in Kittur lot of public meetings takes place. He remembers Land and Army chief Noor Ahmed for giving him a challenging task to complete.

The life of this master at work is not bed of roses. He took this ‘Itching Process’ of art form on account of inevitable situation six years ago. Basically a Diploma in Mechanical Engineer Lakshminarayana Acharya worked in Kirloskar, BEML and dealt in automobile accessories in Mysore.

It was two decades ago he came to Coimbatore of Tamil Nadu state as goldsmith and running a jewelry shop. The bomb attack on Lal Krishna Advani shook the life of many goldsmiths like Lakshminarayana. Rs.75 lakhs of worth gold (when Gold per gram was Rs.500 – now it nearing to Rs.2000 per gram) ornaments he prepared was snatched by the police atrocities put him in mental, physical and financial constraints. I had even thought of committing suicide in life with such wretched situation of my life says Lakshminarayana.

So from scratch Lakshminarayana started his life and picked this ‘Chitra Shasana’. For private houses and temples the art form of his is very much in demand. Only thing is that it is in black and white and long last. The itching process art work of Lakshminarayana has created Sri Basaveshwara, many Hindu gods and goddesses and the one of Ashta Dikpalakaru from heaven offering flowers is a super hit of his career. He has traveled widely in Karnataka and worked alone.

This art form cannot believe the other hands. So I don’t keep any assistants. I go to a shed or small place finish the given task. Living in Navanagara, Hubli since 10 years Lakshminarayana is staying in the joint family. He has two sons eldest is studying in engineering first year.

What I have lost in my life I have to get back is the agenda in the life of Lakshminarayana Acharya.
